Holidays are bliss when you are with your cousins!

Two days ago, I had hiccups. Who could be remembering me? Who else could it be except for my cousins! So, we (my whole family) went over to my aunt’s place to visit them. They were extremely overjoyed to see my brother and me. We chatted and played interesting board games like monopoly, carom board and ludo. We also had a small party with chips pizza and coke. I played some music on my iPod and we danced for hours.
My aunt gave me some comics of Archie and Tintin and books of Sherlock Holmes from her own collection to read during the vacations. I was thrilled to get my hands on such interesting reading material.
On the way back to home, the weather became very pleasant. So, my parents make a plan to go to Haridwar the very day. We quickly packed our bags and set off Haridwar. We drove over night and finally reached our destination early in the morning.
By chance, my father met old school friend there. They were very happy to see each other after so many years. He also had come with his family and his daughter was of the same age as me. She was very sweet. Both the families decided to spend the rest of the day together. I was really glad to be with my new friend.
The water in the river Ganges was cold. We splashed it on each others’ faces and had and fun. We did swimming for a long time. She was an excellent swimmer and I was impressed by her speed of swimming. I wished we could spend the whole day there but we had only one day to visit the numerous temples that were nearby.
Although the temples were crowded, they were still very peaceful. The carvings on the doors and paintings on the walls told stories about the great Gods. They were very attractive and fascinating. The idols in the sanctum  were painted and dressed magnificently. Outside some temples, stalls were put up from where one could buy holy books, pendants of ‘aum’ and CDs of prayers and hymns. My mother bought a small idol of ‘Mahadev’, the God of the Gods.

When it was time to leave, I found it really hard to bid farewell to my friend. Although we had spent only a few hours together, I felt like we knew each other since a long time. We exchanged phone numbers and promised to stay in contact via whatsapp before a goodbye hug. On the way, we saw some mango trees so, we stopped to pluck some. We collected a bag full of mangoes. I enjoyed it a lot. The next day we had mango sandwiches and mango milkshake for breakfast. We used the mangoes that we had plucked on the way. They were very sweet and juicy. Their sweetness reminded me of my friend. The trip to Haridwar will always be a memorable one as I got a souvenir of friendship from there.
